Press Release 02.05.2018.
GEMCO Sales & Service are proud to announce the completion of a new site for Westover Group for their Jaguar Land Rover aftersales facility in Christchurch! This prestigious facility boasts 29 bays which all feature AUTOPSTENHOJ premium vehicle lifts and bespoke DURA workshop furniture which also houses oil/water/air reels, recycling points and integrated lift controls. Most of the bays are uniform and feature GEMCO’s best selling, highly-versatile in-ground swing arm lifts (model Masterlift 235 SAA 230) with an ultra low pad height of just 70mm! Additionally, there are two bays featuring larger 5.5 tonne capacity swing arm lifts, two MOT bays, one of which is dual revenue (combined MOT & Wheel Alignment) and two hybrid bays featuring AUTOPSTENHOJ’s unique ultra-wide PV XY Lifts which have been specifically designed for hybrid vehicles with special adaptors to aid battery removal in the future.
Project Brief: To design and build a new JLR workshop on the famous Bailey Bridge construction site. From the outset, Pete Walker, Aftersales Director for Westover Group, had a clear vision of his workshop requirements and with a wealth of knowledge on previous JLR projects carried out at Jaguar Land Rover sites in Fen End, Milton Gate and Stafford, it was clear that GEMCO Sales & Service with their knowledge of JLR requirements and innovative solutions was the best fit for the project.
“Innovative. Trusted. Pioneering. These three qualities have always summed up Jaguar Land Rover. They have been encapsulated within the performance, luxury and excellence of all their products. They are what every person working for us lives and breathes.” (Source: Jaguar Land Rover’s website, May 2018).
For GEMCO, it was absolutely essential that the equipment we specified for this project met with these core values of the company, their specific requirements, budget and deadline. John Ray, GEMCO’s Project Sales Manager for the area, says “In collaborating together, we’ve carefully chosen equipment and designed a workshop that accommodates JLR’s vehicles – past, present and future (HEV vehicles). With JLR approved AUTOPSTENHOJ lifts at the heart of the project, we had every confidence in delivering this fantastic workshop for the Westover Group.”
John Ray states, “The fine details which were key to delivering a successful project included; Specially designed waste & recycling facilities for each bay (which was high on the priority list for Westover Group), integrated lift controls for each workstation, specially designed storage areas to accommodate the newly designed JLR – Charge Diagnostic Trolley to name but a few.
Furthermore, the building itself required substantial pilling due to a local river and a high water table, and as such, a load supporting floor was laid which incorporated specialist AUTOPSTENHOJ self supporting cassettes. Every single AUTOPSTENHOJ cassette, which GEMCO supplies, comes with a certificate of water tightness which ensures longevity of the lifts.
